Check your email for details! Update on Ocoee trip from Scoutmaster Fielder:
Troop 859 had a GREAT whitewater trip to the Ocoee on Saturday the 19th!! Four Scouts earned the Whitewater Merit Badge using Funyaks (an inflatable kayak). The Funyaks are incredible – - – better than regular whitewater rafts lead by a guide. The staff at Ace Funyaks was incredible. Jeff West, a former Scout, carefully led the guys through every requirement and spent the day training the Scouts on whitewater via kayak. The Scouts had to individually chart their course on the river. They learned a lot about the river and kayaking. All the Scouts who participated want to go back and continue their whitewater adventures. What a GREAT day!!!

Some information on 2009 Popcorn Sale and how your Scout can place orders online:
Good news: Popcorn sales can be made online on behalf of your scout! It is very easy to set up and log on going forward. Visit the Trail’s End site using this link to set up an account for your Scout and begin selling popcorn online that will be credited to his account and entitle him to popcorn prizes, scholarships, and all other rewards. Once your Scout has an account you can even use the ”Send Emails” function to start sending emails to friends and family willing to help out. This is easier than going door to door, taking orders, getting checks, and then delivering the popcorn once it it arrives, because the ordered popcorn is shipped directly to the buyer. We’ve just launched our online fundraising campaign. We created a special landing page for all of our friends and family to come to and support our great cause! All you need to do is visit the site and add the email addresses of the friends and family members you think will want to support you.
What’s really great about this fundraising program is that our partner, Flower Power Fundraising, is totally committed to our cause. They are putting out top-quality, best-selling flower bulbs and plants, shipping directly to your friend or family member, and, they’re giving us a 100% satisfaction guarantee. It’s hard to go wrong with that! To start supporting our group today just click on the link below and follow the instructions once you’re there. It’s completely safe and any email address you enter into the site will only be used for our fundraiser. Flower Power will not sell or use the names for any other purpose. While working on their Radio Merit Badge, several of our Scouts gathered this week for a personal tour of WVLK-AM, and other radio stations based out of the same offices, by none other than Lexington radio personality Jack Pattie.
High and low resolution versions (in B&W and color) of the Troop 859 logo are now available for download to REGISTERED MEMBERS OF THE TROOP 859 WEB SITE.
Go to FORMS/RESOURCES on main navigation menu and then click on the “Images” tab. Scoutmaster Fletcher Gabbard led several of the Scouts on a backpacking trip through the Great Smokey Mountains, June 22-26, 2009.
From June 7-13th several of the Troop spent the week at summer camp at Camp Crooked Creek, outside of Louisville, KY.
Just for fun, ask some of the guys to tell you about all the “yellow food”, how much fun they had swimming in the lake and Mitchell’s foot. :) |
